Born to Play was a subsidiary of toy company Martin Yaffe International, founded in 1987. The company produced several toys based on licensed properties, one of which being Fireman Sam, from 2005 until 2008, until selling the toy master rights to Character Options in 2009.
In July 2010, Martin Yaffe International filed for adminstration, and soon closed their doors in 2011. The "Born to Play" brand and trademark were soon sold and is currently owned by holding company Play With Us, Ltd.

- Some Born to Play toys were re-released in an unknown year with the packaging having a picture of Sam from the CGI series. They are currently on sale in B&M bargain stores
- Tom Thomas is the only character to be bundled with two vehicle toys.
