The Emergency bell is a bell to alert everyone at the Pontypandy Fire Station that there is an emergency.

Appearance

In the original series, the bell was mounted upside down on the wall above the cooker. It was arranged the other way up in Series 5.

In Series 10, the station gained a modern alarm but the bell was kept as a heritage antique.

Trivia

• In the original series, a much older bell was mounted next to Steele's office door.
• The sound of the bell in Series 1-3 can also be heard in an episode of the British television series Grange Hill, acting as a fire alarm bell when a fire broke out in the episode. Series 6 onwards however uses a stock sound effect used in many movies and TV shows, including an episode of another BBC television series Brum
  • The sound of the bell in Series 5 can be found on the BBC Sound Effects Library.
• The Series 4 bell sound effect is different compared to the one from the previous 3 seasons. It was also used in an episode of Brum & also used as the school bell in Code Lyoko.
