- “Flaming koalas!”
- ―Tom's catchphrase in Series 5
Tom Thomas is an Australian Mountain Rescuer and Pilot who runs the Pontypandy Mountain Rescue Centre. He used to be seen flying Wallaby 1, an orange Mountain Rescue helicopter. However, as of Alien Alert, he is now flying Wallaby 2, a yellow Search & Rescue Helicopter. When not in the air he drives his yellow 4x4.
Biography[]
Series 5[]
In the fifth series, Tom is mainly seen during some rescue missions. However, in Let it Snow, he uses Wallaby 1 to go to Newtown to get supplies for Dilys' shop.
CGI series (Series 6-present)[]
In the CGI series, Tom helps the fire brigade with emergencies more often, mostly having a few non-speaking roles, like in the episodes Poorly Penny, Three Legged Race and Danger by the Double. In this series, he is shown to be a good abseiler, as demonstrated in the episodes Fireworks for Mandy and Pontypandy Extreme.
In Snap and Spot, it was revealed that Tom is a best friend of Krystyna Kaminski, when they were cadets and received their pilot qualifications a while ago and Krystyna also stated that it was not the first time she had pulled Tom off the side of the cliff.
Personality[]
Tom is generally a kind person, similar to most of the other characters and in the sixth series, he is also shown to be a bit cocky and competitive, as seen in the episode, Sausages vs. Shrimps. He is also shown to be 'animal mad', just like Bronwyn, as seen in Cry Wolf and Perilous Path.
Physical appearance[]
Tom has blond hair, blue eyes and wears an orange rescue outfit with beige boots. He wears sunglasses some of the time. In Series 6, Tom is slightly taller than Elvis, and his hair is thicker. His sunglasses have changed design too, having black visors that completely go over his eyes, as identified in the picture above. He mostly wears them when he's in his helicopter, but the Series 6 episode Cat Magic was where he wore them whilst driving his 4x4.

- Tom has needed to be rescued several times throughout the program for example in Series 8's episode King of the Mountain he got tangled in some ropes in a tree branch that was about to snap, in Series 11's episode The Prince In Pontypandy he had injured his shoulder, in Series 10's episode Float Your Boat he fell asleep on a dingy and drifted out to sea and in Heroes of the Storm for multiple reasons. Tom tumbled of a cliff and needed rescuing in the Series 14 episode, Snap and Spot.
